I am a Zurich-based Photographer

the world through MY lens

Nothing happens when you sit at home. I always make it a point to carry a camera with me at all times. I just shoot at  what interests me at that moment.   (Elliott Erwitt)

One doesn’t stop seeing. One doesn’t stop framing. It doesn’t turn off and turn on. It’s on all the time.   (Annie Leibovitz)

Shooting the night sky was at the start of my journey into professional photography many years back.

photography in its essence is "contemplation of light"

Why Contemplation? Because manual photography calms me down. It helps me to decelerate and to focus on a topic, my subject, the scene in front of the camera, nothing else than my scene and photo matter in these moments.

Why Light? Because the etymology of the word photography goes back to the ancient Greek language:

  • photós is the grammatical genitive of the word phõs
  • phõs in the ancient Greek language means light
  • gráphein in the Ancient Greek language means writing

Therefore, photography means writing with light, drawing with light, painting with light, etc.

Light is the essence of our workflow in photography. We set our parameters on the camera and on the lens according to the light we have in the scene in front of us and according to the light expression we want to create in an image. Photography is all about light.
